Land & Prayer Helpers

Tools to help you acknowledge land and create thoughtful prayers.

Land Acknowledgement Helper

What you enter:

  • Region: Your city or area
  • Nations and territories: The First Nations, Métis, or Inuit peoples of this land
  • Tone: Formal, conversational, or very brief
  • Length: Short (1–2 minutes) or longer (3–5 minutes)
  • Your perspective: Are you Indigenous, non-Indigenous, or speaking on behalf of an organization?

This is a helper, not an authority. The best land acknowledgements come from listening to the people who live on and care for this land. Follow local protocol where it exists, and seek guidance from local Indigenous people or organizations whenever possible.

Prayer Generator

What you choose:

  • Occasion: What are you opening? (work meeting, circle, workshop, etc.)
  • Tone: Very short, conversational, or formal
  • Focus areas: What matters for this gathering? (healing, gratitude, protection, etc.)
  • Your perspective: Are you First Nations, Métis, Inuit, non-Indigenous, or speaking for your organization?

What the prayer includes:

  • • Opening: a greeting to Creator and the beings present
  • • Purpose: why you're gathering and what you're asking for
  • • Requests: for protection, wisdom, healing, openness, or other intentions
  • • Closing: gratitude and offering

You're in charge:

The prayer is a suggestion. You can adapt or shorten it, change the words, or skip parts altogether. This tool's here to support your voice, not to tell you what to pray.

Where local teachings and this tool differ, follow local teachings. This is a starting point, not a destination.
